Aesthetics and usability are made consistent through adherence to a detailed style guide and a simple, recognizable logo. These features, accessible via the hamburger and user profile buttons, make the app easy to navigate and engaging.
These features enable users - anyone from eco-conscious individuals, families, students, or businesses - to monitor and decrease their environmental impact, reduce waste, and lower energy consumption. Providing a database of green alternatives and environmentally friendly products empowers our users to make more sustainable choices. Through challenges, rewards, and a community platform, we hope to foster engagement and dedication to sustainability - what makes our application unique within the environmental domain.
Wireframe Blueprint:
The style guide in Figure 4 outlines the visual foundation for the app, dictating the color palette, logo, and typography, ensuring uniformity across the application's design elements. This guide was crucial in transitioning the wireframe sketches from their initial low-fidelity stage to their current higher-fidelity state, as seen in Figure 5. For example, the 'Activity Tracker' is one of the 14 screens we meticulously developed in Figma. The transformation from sketch to Figma highlights the thoughtful design decisions implemented.
The current stage of development is a stepping stone towards a fully realized application, allowing me to refine design decisions based on testing and user feedback. Future steps include enhancing the app's functionality to educate users about sustainable choices and accommodating those without smart home connectivity. While the 'Green Community' feature currently does not include a shopping guide, we intend to develop this component further, adding another layer of value to the application.
Business Model Canvas:
In creating the Business Model Canvas for the Green Living Tracker Application, I combined inspiration from several sources, including references, examples, and my research into sustainable living. The overarching goal was to build a mobile application that enables users to monitor and reduce their environmental impact while promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
Each element of the Business Model Canvas was thoughtfully designed to align with the application's mission and meet the needs of eco-conscious individuals and communities.
